Stansted Bosses Hit Back
Bosses at Stansted Airport are accusing protesters against a second runway of uneccessarily stirring up trouble. Stop Stansted Expansion's claiming delays for a public inquiry are causing more worry for nearby residents. SSE says BAA should scrap the plans once and for all - rather than simply putting back the inquiry. However in response Stansted says the group would have been fully aware of how long revisiting problems highlighted by BAA would take to rectify - making their arguement about waiting until 2013 irrelevant.

Airport Inquiry Delay
It's been revealed the public inquiry into a second runway at Stansted may not happen until at least 2013. The news is contained in a copy of a letter sent to the government by airport operator, BAA. In the letter, seen by us, BAA executive Mike Forster says the company needs to update it's planning application - because of delays caused by uncertainty over the airport's ownership. Stop Stansted Expansion say that could take a year - with another 18 months needed after that to review the plans for the new runway The campaign group says that means it could take until 2015 to get a decision from the Public Inquiry. SSE's again calling on BAA to scrap the plans once and for all - and give hope back to local residents who've had years of uncertainty and the threat of compulsory purcharse orders on their homes.
