New speed limit on A127

A new 40 mile an hour speed limit`s been introduced on the A127.

The restriction will be in place between the A128 junction and the Fortune of War until further notcie.

Officials say the decision was made for safety reasons after they found damage to the central reservation on a large stretch between the A128 and Dunton.

Flooding - Update

Drinking water has been restored to houses in South Woodham Ferrers.

Early this morning a burst water main caused flooding - the water was 2 and a half feet deep in Eastbridge Road.

13 people were evacuated from their homes.

'Racist Abuse' At Blues Match

A man's been arrested after allegedly shouting racist abuse during Southend's League Two game at Plymouth.

Devon and Cornwall Police say the 33 year old - from Plymouth - was detained on suspicion of causing racially aggravated harassment.

He's been released on police bail until next month.

BREAKING NEWS - 100 HOMES EVACUATED

Police and other emergency services have been called to South Woodham Ferrers after a number of homes were flooded.

Residents in East Bridge Road called police shortly after 6.30 today, to report that water was gushing from a drain in the street.

The water has entered properties and up to 100 homes are likely to be evacuated.

An emergency reception area is being set up for those people evacuated from their homes.

SNOW - TRAINS UPDATE

Local commuters face more problems on the trains.

Most services are expected to run as normal today.

But, Abelio - who've taken over the Greater Anglia franchise - say there will be some disruption because of rolling stock in the wrong place.

Yesterday - the firm's first full day after replacing National Express - .there were scores of delays and cancellations.

Network Rail blame frozen points.
